I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, and I don’t usually do it. But Tauer Perfumes is going to continue to be wildly successful, and Andy Tauer says he hates bloggers, so he’s probably not going to pay any attention to whatever I say, as he shouldn’t. So… I might as well just put this out there and then let it go.
I describe the fragrance simply as “tension.” That’s how I perceive it. Pulling forces, action and reaction, exertion and transmission, and so much potential in between. Hopefully you’ll see what I mean.
Body & Soul is a new perfume from Matthew Decker Fragrances. Body & Soul was released in 2019.
Amber Nude comes in the sleek, iconic ribbed and cinched Youth Dew bottle. For me, that’s pretty much where the true similarities end. The fragrance does pay homage to its roots in the deep, dark drydown, but any family resemblance between the two is generations apart. Like, Amber Nude is a swank young socialite, and original Youth Dew is her great-great aunt in regency clothing over on the settee kind of separation.
Ariel is a green floral perfume created by perfumer Giovanni Sammarco for his brand, Sammarco, and released in 2015. The perfumer describes the scent as ” A romantic and sensual perfume dedicated to redheads.” He says that hidden within the formula of the perfume is the name of a woman.
I chose to order, as a 100mL blind-buy, Rhubarb & Custard 1:29. Not because I love rhubarb fragrances, actually, quite the opposite is true — they never work for me. Too tart, too bitter, too green… but when I saw this one, I just knew I’d found “the one.”

Madeleine de Madeleine is a floral skank-lover’s dream. Released in 1978 by Madeleine Mono, it is the scent of hot flesh rendered in florals.
This is the best-performing, most masculine, Beast-Mode fragrance in my arsenal, that works magic in all seasons, and gets me TONS of compliments. It is loved by women, and is an extraordinary, manly fragrance. But, ladies — you can wear it too (IF you’re a boss).
