Happy Birthday Cancer!
This is a quick-sniff review for Cancer from Demter, which is part of the Demeter Zodiac Collection Foolproof Blending Pack. These are all unique, light, linear scents that are made to be blended and experimented with, although they can certainly be worn on their own and fit the modern minimalist aesthetic quite nicely. Worn together, they will create a new fragrance with additional depth and harmony.
I think that a fun layering experiment would be to combine the scents of your sign and the sign of your beloved, or your best friend. I am a Pisces, and my husband is a Gemini, so while trying the Gemini scent last month, I snuck in a little spritz of Pisces to try it out. My nose confirms real life — we are a good, balanced match.
Whenever I try the current month’s Demeter Zodiac scent, I always think of the people that I know who are born in that sign. My ex-husband was a Cancer, so I was kind of expecting this fragrance to smell like ass and regret (just kidding!) However, I have to admit that I really like the smell of the Cancer scent, and so far in the Zodiac Collection it is my favorite stand-alone scent.
Demeter says that Cancer was created to be “a fragrance that could act as a talisman of sorts, to keep its wearer feeling assured and secure.”

It’s being called “The Rare Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse of 2018.” The total phase of this eclipse will last for 1 hour and 43 minutes (from start to finish, the entire event will last for nearly 4 hours). The timing of this eclipse means it won’t be visible from North America, but it will be fully visible from Africa, the Middle East, and central Asia. The rest of us will have to see it in photos, or on webcast.

CANCER MYTH
The constellation of Cancer is identified with the crab, Karkinos that appeared when Hercules was fighting Hydra (the second of his Twelve Labors). The Goddess Hera, a sworn enemy of Hercules, sent Karkinos to distract Hercules during the battle. Karkinos bit Hercules on the foot, grabbing his toe, but Hercules crushed the crab under his foot. To show gratitude for Karkinos’s effort and sacrifice, Hera placed the crab in the sky among the stars.
CANCER FRAGRANCE
Cancer the fragrance smells outdoorsy, like pristine, flowing water and crisp, cool air. The top note is davana, which smells fresh, fruity, and herbaceous, with a hint of florality. It’s like wild strawberries growing in a meadow, or an old grape arbor in a picturesque Italian countryside. The base is warm wood with just a hint of cozy vanilla.
Cancer’s crab symbol reminds us that life emerges from and is intimately connected to water. The Cancer fragrance smells like places where clean water meets crisp air. It is unisex and would layer well with other scents to create an uplifting fragrance.
