LEO MYTH
The story of Leo came from the Nemean Lion, killed by Heracles as the first of his twelve labors. The Nemean Lion was a vicious beast with radiant golden fur that could not be penetrated by any mortals’ weapons. It also had claws that were sharper than swords, and could cut through any armor. It terrorized the hills around Nemea, taking women as captives in its lair and killing the warriors who tried to save them.
Heracles first tried to shoot the lion with arrows, but found that its fur was impenetrable. He managed to kill the lion by blocking off one of the entrances to the lion’s cave, trapping it in a small area where he could stun it with his club and strangle it.
Heracles attempted to skin the Nemean Lion with a knife, but its special fur could not be cut. Athena advised Heracles to use the lion’s own claw to remove its pelt. Heracles is often depicted in Greek and Roman art wearing a lion skin.
LEO FRAGRANCE REVIEW
Demeter Leo smells of dark, spicy resins and exotic woods. It is teakwood, which smells quite like a fragrant cedar soap, and a medicinal myrrh which has a faint aroma of rubber or latex. There is also a sprinkling of black pepper in the opening. It is a pleasing, clean, masculine fragrance, although it could also be worn by a woman. A bit of bitter orange peel gives it a golden glow. The smell of Leo is powerful, confident, and attractive.
Leo is the most masculine of the zodiac signs, and gets its power from the radiant energy of its ruler, the sun. Demeter Leo is a masculine fragrance with warm undertones from wood and spicy resins.
